Skipping
Dropped strokes mid-word while writing.
Skipping is intermittent ink failure mid-writing — letters with missing segments where the nib traveled but nothing landed. Flow starvation, misaligned tines, oil residue on a new nib, or writing angle are the usual causes.
A flush with diluted dish soap cures a surprising share of new-pen skipping: machining oils repel water-based ink until washed off.
