Desmond maintains the Piston Fill swatch library — 300+ inks and counting, each documented on one fixed paper panel, under one light, through one nib, so color, shading, sheen, and dry time read honestly across the whole set.
He pairs ink to purpose: waterproof for addresses, well-behaved shaders for cheap office paper, sheeners for letters that deserve them. On the paper side he tracks feathering and bleed per weight, from 52 gsm to 160.
