Section

The grip — where your fingers hold the pen.

The section is the part of the pen between barrel and nib that you actually hold. Its diameter, taper, material, and any facets or step-downs decide comfort over a long writing session far more than the pen’s weight on a spec sheet.

Some pens (famously the Lamy Safari) mold the section to teach a tripod grip — beloved by teachers, divisive among overwriters.
