Dry time
Seconds until a written line stops smearing.
Dry time is how long fresh writing stays smearable — from ~5 seconds (dry inks, fine nibs, absorbent paper) to 45+ (wet sheeners on coated stock). It is a three-way negotiation between ink, nib width, and paper.
Left-handed overwriters live and die by this number, which is why our reviews report it on a standardized sheet instead of adjectives.
